How often the filter needs to be replaced ultimately depends on how many pets are using the fountain, how many fountains are in the home, etc. Generally we recommend replacing the filters every 2-4 weeks. Although not stamped, filter casings are recyclable.

The Swan Fountain uses #3091 T-Shape Replacement filter

It is common for some residual charcoal just to seep from the filter. This is perfectly normal and not harmful to your pet in any manner. To help prevent the charcoal dust from shedding, rinse the filter thoroughly under running water before placing inside the fountain.

We recommend cleaning all Pioneer Pet fountains once a week with a mild dish soap and warm water. Because the swan 'neck' does not come apart, we recommend using a small bottle brush, reusable drinking straw brush or even a pipe cleaner to regularly clear out any built up debris. Additionally, the Swan Fountain is top rack dishwasher safe.

We recommend fully disassembling the pump at least once a month and scrubbing all pieces and inside the pump. You can also soak the non-electrical pump pieces in vinegar water for several hours to help break down buildup and bacteria inside the pumps.

Fully disassembling and cleaning the pump is essential to the longevity of the fountain.

1. Remove the cover plate, stator and impeller
2. Clean all parts with soap and warm water and thoroughly rinse
3. Reassemble the impeller, stator and cover plate. Note: After reinserting the impeller, spin it 3-5 times in the same direction with your finger to ensure it is properly engaged with the magnet.

• Please make sure the water level never gets too low. A low water level can damage the pump and will cause noise.
• Follow Motor Maintenance directions found on page 9-10 of the fountain instruction manual. Fully disassemble the pump, take out the impeller inside the pump and make sure it is clear of pet hair, food particles or other debris. We recommend doing this process at least once a month to maintain the cleanliness of the pump. • Replace the filter every 2-4 weeks.
• Try adjusting the water flow lever on the pump to the middle setting.
• Scrub the inside of the Swan 'neck' with a reusable drinking straw brush, bottle brush or pipe cleaner. Debris stuck inside the neck tube is the most common cause of noise and splashing. Please note, the 'neck' does not come apart.
• Make sure the white rubber directing tube #0375 is properly in place. If this piece has gone missing, a replacement can be purchased on pioneerpet.com

We do not stock the Swan 'neck' or bowls separately. The fountains are sold as one unit. However, we may very occasionally have a 'neck' or bowl in our spare parts. The fountain and pump are warranted to be free of manufacturing defects for (1) one year from the date of purchase. However, if proper pump maintenance is not followed per page 9-10 of the instruction manual the warranty will be voided. Please retain your dated sales receipt as proof of purchase. With regular maintenance, the pump will typically run between 1.5 to 2 years (>13000 hours) but can occasionally last longer.

The fountain runs on a low-power DC pump with a power adapter. The power consumption is about 720Wh per month or 8.6kWh per year.
